Peace Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND
The sanctuary remodel of Peace Lutheran Church was designed by R.L. Engebretson to reflect the congregation’s worship structure changes. The sound system was updated and the organ and pipes were relocated to the front of the church. A secondary music area was added for the grand piano and choirs. Front railings were designed to be removable for special events. Acoustical issues were addressed with the design of the new ceiling. Dark paneling was removed and painted gypsum walls with metal reveals and maple wainscoting were added. The congregants wanted to keep an element of the old sanctuary, so the center wood cross was incorporated into the new design. R.L. Engebretson designed the litergical furniture and woodworkers from the congregation lovingly built each piece. The original pews were removed, refinished, and reinstalled.

Hosanna Lutheran church commissioned R.L. Engebretson to assist them with their 14,542 sf expansion and 10,000 sf remodeling project in 2009. The second floor of the addition will house an additional 7 classrooms and the audio video control area. The building is designed to have a future balcony for an additional 200 seats if needed. The existing sanctuary will be remodeled into a smaller worship space with additional youth classrooms and a preschool area. The design of the expansion was to blend into the existing structure and residential neighborhood with cement board siding and a low pitched shingled roof.
