FARGODOME Flood Recovery, Fargo, ND
On June 20, 2000, the FARGODOME, with a field elevation of 16 feet below grade, was flooded with eight feet of water from overland flooding in a 500 year rain event. Three major events were scheduled for the upcoming weekend of July 13th. The City of Fargo awarded R.L. Engebretson the contract to coordinate the flood recovery effort to get the facility reactivated. Our project management staff identified the contractors necessary to perform the work, identified and scheduled the critical tasks, and coordinated the recovery effort. All major building systems are housed at field level and needed remediation or replacement. Daily meetings were held to discuss progress, coordinate trades and identify problems. In short, three weeks later the Dixie Chicks took the stage after an amazing effort by the selected contractors, the FARGODOME staff and our firm. Additional repairs continued over the next several months.
